A living map of agentic AI.

The Effective Agent is a knowledge site about building, running, governing, securing and paying for agentic AI. I organized it as one structure with six sides: the harness, the architecture, reliability and security, governance, economics and the organization. Every concept opens the same way: a picture first, then working knowledge, then the full prose, and at the bottom the evidence it rests on.

Where it came from

This site grew out of my white paper The Effective Agent (July 2026). The paper is a snapshot; this site is the living version of the same body of knowledge, and over time the two will diverge as the field moves.

How it stays current

An agent pipeline reads a curated feed of publications, research and industry sources, decides where each development belongs on the map, and proposes changes. I review every proposal before anything is published; nothing on this site was published by a machine alone. The changelog records what changed and why.
